Two at a time! George Clooney, Kristen Wiig and more celebrity parents have double the trouble at home with twins.
The actor’s wife, Amal Clooney, gave birth to their son, Alexander, and their daughter, Ella, in 2017. Two years later, the Oscar winner gushed during a Today show appearance about how “good” his kids are.
“They’re happy,” the Kentucky native said in May 2019. “They laugh a lot. They do pranks already. Put peanut butter on their shoes, so that it looks like poo-poo on their shoes and stuff, and they think that’s funny.”
The Catch-22 alum added at the time: “They really come out with the personalities that they’re born with. They’re just completely different personalities, and they’re fun and smart. I mean, they already can … do all their ABC’s in Italian and in English, and I can’t do that in English.”
In December 2020, George joked that he and the humanitarian rights lawyer had made a “really dumb” decision by choosing to raise bilingual kids.
“I don’t speak Italian, my wife doesn’t speak Italian, so we’ve armed them with a language,” the Golden Globes winner told Jimmy Kimmel at the time. “I’ll say, ‘Go back in and clean your room,’ and they’ll be like, ‘Eh, papa stranzo.’ I’m from Kentucky, English is a second language to me.”
As for Wiig, Us Weekly broke the news in June 2020 that the actress had welcomed twins via surrogate with her fiancé, Avi Rothman.
Two months later, the Saturday Night Live alum called her IVF experience an “isolating” one. “You go through so much self-deprecation, and you feel like your partner may be seeing you in a different way and all this other stuff we make up in our heads,” the New York native explained to InStyle in August 2020. “But when I did talk about it, every time I said that I was going through IVF, I would meet someone who was either going through it, about to go through it, or had a friend who just did it. It’s like this underground community that’s talked about but not talked about.”
